“Mr. Melvin” vividly captures the multicultural flavor of Miami. A Latin undertone and randomness is cleverly injected into the main character of the show, Melvin de la Porte, a young ambitious freeloading type that climbs society ladders by adopting a clone type personality similar to the smart, lying, exaggerated and over the top individual everyone has encountered at some point. The first episode transports the viewers into a hilarious feel good raw adventure that portrays Melvin’s proudest and most humiliating moments without him ever losing his cool.
The pilot carries with it a strong influential gene pool deriving from films and TV shows such as “Waiting for Guffman,” “40 Year-Old Virgin,” “The Office,” “Seinfeld,” and “Mr. Bean.”
The "Mr. Melvin" TV show concept was created in sunny Miami, FL by a team of three local collaborators who found inspiration in the city’s flavor and culture. The film, directed by Rick Delgado, produced by Patricia Nieto and scored by Chris Rodriguez “C-Rod,” is an innovative comedic take on many of their personal experiences with the community and its colorful characters.
